Advance have come a long way since launching back in 2003 with multiple site moves and expansions. Here’s a very brief company history to give you an idea of where we’ve come from and where we’re heading.
Advance Automated Systems Ltd was launched in September 2003 and is based in a unit at Enterprise City in Spennymoor. The initial focus was on manufacturing belt conveyors and bespoke conveyor equipment.
The company enjoyed a steady period of growth, leading to larger projects and the need for more manufacturing space.
In 2008, the decision was made to relocate the business to larger premises on the same industrial estate.
The relocation was primarily to cope with the growing demand for our product and also to allow for the expansion of our engineering and production facilities.
During our time at this factory, the business made a significant investment in facilities, bringing in a laser cutter and a powder coating booth/oven. This enabled Advance to offer greater flexibility in lead times, reduce costs, and maintain a firmer hold on product quality.
In 2014, we moved to our current home in Newton Aycliffe. The new factory gave us much more manufacturing space, a greatly improved office space and larger meeting facilities.
The move to Newton Aycliffe enabled us to expand on our philosophy of fully testing and building large systems prior to installation and commissioning.
The greater space allowed for a higher level of product development, and during this time, we developed our standard range of SmartLine™ tote conveyor and SmartLine™ pallet conveyor.
To keep up with current customer demands, we have recently added an extension and 2 new mezzanine floors within the current factory to further expand our assembly and panel manufacturing areas.
In 2023, we further expanded by opening our assembly facility in Newton Aycliffe.
The 20,000 sqft assembly facility allows us to fully assemble conveyor systems for Factory Acceptance Tests, gives the customer a place to view their kit before it is delivered, and increases our capacity for larger projects.
