Line Shaft Roller Conveyors: Overview

Line shaft conveyors are an economical powered roller conveyor, operating with a geared motor powering a shaft mounted within the conveyor body. The shaft in turn rotates each roller by specially designed drive belts connecting the rollers to the shaft. (see the diagram below).

Line shaft conveyors are suited to handling medium weight products in a wide range of industries and applications such as packing, assembly, production lines, sortation systems and as a part of a more complex conveyor systems.

Advantages of Line shaft conveyors:

• Safety - All rollers and trap points will be contained within the conveyor frame and guarded over if necessary. All Advance conveyors are fully risk assessed before dispatch.
• Quiet - Line shaft conveyors are much quieter than conventional powered roller conveyors. The drive belts hold the rollers firmly under tension, stopping them rattling and eliminating a major source of noise.
• Robust - Manufactured out of mild steel, with mild steel rollers, the line shaft conveyor is a robust solution to a materials handling problem.

The ends of the rollers are contained within the conveyor frame and the drive shaft is guarded, making the conveyor safe for operator use.

The next image shows a line shaft conveyor system recently manufactured by Advance. This line shaft conveyor was a heavy duty construction designed to carry gaming machines weighing approximately 60kg each.

Manufactured out of mild steel with bright, zinc plated mild steel rollers the line shaft conveyor is a very robust and heavy duty system.
