Conveyor Design
The 3d image below is the design of a standard belt conveyor. To find out more about how a standard belt conveyor is made up, what options you can get with it and get a better idea of how it goes together click on part of the image.
For example, if you would like to know more about side guide options then click on one of the side guides.

Aluminium Extrusion

Advance manufacture a standard belt conveyor range from extruded aluminium extrusion, the profile of the 80mm extrusion (used for A880 medium duty belt conveyors) is shown in the image. The image also shows a standard under roller and fixing bracket mounted to the aluminium extrusion.
The aluminium profile is a strong and durable material and it's modular nature allows conveyors or systems to be easily modified, adapted or expanded.
The aluminium has a number of slots running the length of the extrusion (6 slots on 80mm extrusion, 8 slots on 120mm extrusion), these can be used to bolt a wide range of accessories to the belt conveyor such as side guides, guard work, control panels etc.

Specifically designed slot nuts (as the next image shows) can be positioned in the slots of the aluminium allowing us or a customer to mount accessories wherever they choose on the conveyor.
Standard Tension Assembly

This image shows a standard tension unit for a belt conveyor. Manufactured using aluminium profile on the top and bottom with laser cut plates bent and fabricated to make up the tension unit itself.
The Advance belt conveyor tension unit is a very strong and reliable modular unit. Very easy to remove should it become necessary to change a roller or belt, and capable of with standing heavy duty loads.
Tension on the belt is increased or decreased by adjusting the tension insert (holding the roller) along the thread bar.
Side Guide Options

All advance belt conveyors can be fitted with adjustable or fixed side guides.
The first image shows a conveyor fitted with adjustable side guides. The guides can be moved further over the belt or away from the belt, raised or lowered depending on the dimensions of the product being moved.
Adjustable side guides are a very good addition to any conveyor where product positioning is important, also where differing sizes of product may be used on the conveyor.
Adjustable side guides are very versatile and can be made to suit a customer's specific conveying needs.

Fixed side guides are typically manufactured out of mild steel to a height specified by the customer, and then powder coated to give a finish.
The next image shows a conveyor system with fixed side guides (powder coated blue) with a product transfer roller at the transfer point. This particular system was carrying boxes of varying sizes with the side guides being used to make sure all boxes remained on the belt. Specific position of the boxes was not an issue.
Belting Options
An extensive range of belts can be used with Advance belt conveyors, from simple PVC to grip face belts and flighted belts.
The majority of the time standard PVC or PU belts will be sufficient, however should your application require something a little extra there are a lot of options available:
Smooth belts
Smooth PVC belts can be put onto the conveyor, ideally used where product is transferring from one conveyor to another, where friction needs to be reduced.
Inclining Conveyors
For conveyors that are going up an incline a number of different options can be explored. A tacky silicone belt could be used if the product is lightweight, a grip-top belt could be used for shallow inclines or flights can be added to the belt to prevent product from rolling back down the belt. These flights can be a range of different sizes and materials, and be on any pitch to suit the application.
Food Grade Belting
For food processing applications a number of FDA approved belts can be applied to the conveyor.
Plastic Modular Belts
Plastic modular belts can be used with Advance conveyors, commonly used in food applications, the belts are easily washed down and due to their modular nature damaged sections of belt can easily be replaced without replacing the entire belt.
If you have any queries, or are not sure what type of belt is suitable for your application please contact the sales office to discuss your requirements.
Conveyor Leg Frames

Advance belt conveyors can be supplied on a standard aluminium or mild steel leg frame giving you the height you require.
Or as the image shows we can fully design and manufacture a bespoke leg frame if you require something a little extra.
In the past we have made bespoke leg frames for conveyors where extra height adjustment was needed, where height had to be variable at infeed but constant at outfeed or for where space restrictions meant legs couldn't be mounted at certain points along the conveyor.
Contact the Advance sales department if you have a conveyor application that requires a specially designed leg frame.
Feet and Castor Options

Advance belt conveyors come with a range of options for the support legs.
Standard self-levelling feet can be utilised giving a height adjustment of +/-35mm, heavy duty feet can be used for larger conveyor systems and where the conveyor needs to be moved around lockable swivel castors can be used.
